Nonetheless, it does feature pretty much all of the themes covered in the last however many posts: a cameo by Guy Verhofstadt, European Council President Van Rompuy, the far-right presence in European politics at it’s most cynical and rude (happily and very purposefully degrading the very institution from which they speak).
Again, sorry. I do actually think that there is a lot to say – in terms of how we conduct ourselves in the public domain – about the sheer rudeness of this outburst and the fact that the UKIP MEP in question without doubt thinks that he will earn a good deal of political capital across the channel with his cynical and cringe worthy outburst.
I think that there is also something interesting in the sense of shame that I feel that my mother tongue is being used (by a fellow native speaker though not compatriot) in such a manner, as though it someone implicates and infects my person as well by the sole fact of our participation in a common tongue, but perhaps I am just too sensitive.
In any case, enough space has been devoted to this…playing right into their hands I suppose. Ugh.
